About the artist

Kirsty Rose Upton is an emerging female artist from the West Midlands. Her work currently focuses heavily on themes of childhood, humanity and the juxtaposition of horror and innocence. Informed by her upbringing, Upton often explores the stereotypes of growing up in working class Britain. The nostalgic, pink, girly visuals of her art often counteract with the deeper symbolism behind her pieces. Working primarily in collage and oil, Upton aims to push the boundaries of art and how we perceive the world around us.

Additionally Upton works as an early years art educator and is passionate about the importance of art in the school curriculum.

Upton is co-director of independent theatre company 'outsider theatre' which provide art workshops to the local community.
